Oxford’s incredibly rich history dates back over a millennia ago, as a settlement by the Anglo-Saxons, known as “Oxnaford”. Nowadays, the city is known for its namesake University of Oxford, likely founded as early as the late 11th century, the oldest university in the English-speaking world.
