Wonderful afternoon tea spoilt by burnt scones! We didn't complain at the time as there were many more sweet treats to enjoy. The scones were covered in icing sugar to mask the black they had clearly been in the oven too long. My husband eventually tried his and it tasted burnt. The staff were lovey and the service was good. I think we were unlucky as a plate of scones taken to another table looked perfect.

1st stay here, having stayed in other Malmaison hotels. Great location just down from the train station and a 2 minute walk into the city centre. We had a standard room and the only downside was the lack of lighting. One bulb above the door, one above the bed. It needs either brighter bulbs or extra lights. This may sound trivial, but the rooms are decorated in black and red, so lack of light didn't help. My wife said the vanity mirror is not high enough to do makeup, due to the stool being too high and the mirror being fixed to the table top. The shower was great, had the option for the rain forest overhead or separate wall mounted head. We used the bar and grill for food and this was very nice. Great atmosphere and staff are brilliant.

Very pleasant stay in the beautiful town. The room was spacious and as advertised. Unfortunately we asked for the room to be serviced, unfortunately when we returned to the hotel after 15:00 it hadn’t happened. Other than that the stay was good. The stay was reasonably priced and there are some good dining options.
