Sunday Lunch always has an air of something special about it – whether it’s a family get-together, special celebration or simply an excuse to spoil yourself.

A British institution. Meats were traditionally roasted in front of a fire on a Sunday, dating back to the reign of King Henry VII. Since the 15th century, the royal bodyguards have been known as ‘Beefeaters’ because of their love of eating roast beef. In the 18th century the French started calling Englishmen ‘rosbifs’. Therefore it is only fitting that ‘rosbif ’ is the centrepiece of Hotel du Vin's perfect Sunday lunch. The roasts are served with all the trimmings, including proper Yorkshires

    My husband and I had dinner at Hotel Du Vin yesterday. We had previously been a year before and we thought we would come again. Both occasions were fantastic. The food is excellent both in terms of portion size and presentation without being pretentious. There is a relaxed and warm ambience. The staff were all welcoming and helpful particularly Sara who served us and was attentive, knowledgeable with a warm & kind disposition. We enjoyed chatting to her.

    Absolutely lovely hotel perfect for our anniversary trip! The staff in the reception were really kind and helpful, walking us to the room and storing our luggage for the day after check-out. Fantastic location and nice room, we will be back on our next trip to York!

    A truly unforgettable experience that we will be forever grateful for. We got married here last week and had the day of dreams, from the moment we checked in the night before right up until the day we checked out the staff could not do enough for us. The accommodation is stunning, the food was exceptional and the staff are the best people we could have ever asked for looking after us for such a special moment in our life. I felt sad to leave after the most magical couple of days and have already bugged my husband to book for us to come back again before Christmas! A special thanks to Scott for being like an extended family member looking after us, helping wherever he could and calming the nerves on the big day. Kate for being wonderful on our menu tasting visit and on our wedding day ensuring the day was seamless. Adam, for being so kind, calming, helpful and professional. Michelle in the bistro for being excellent with our daughter and couldn't do enough for us. Ben behind the bar and every other member of staff who was there whilst we were, you were all so wonderful! Our day was better than we could have ever imagined and if we had to do it all over again we would choose Hotel du Vin, York!
