Stunning estate with an abundance of space in our room. We had a king or queen for the main bed and they set up a large pull out for our 3rd in the bay window area. Great in room amenities including both sparkling and still waters, cocoa, tea, and coffee. Very nice restroom with all the shower amenities you'd need. It was decorated for the Christmas holiday so extra warm and lovely. Two separate dining areas. We adored the evening dinner service manager who "forbid" my daughter and I from having dessert after we didn't finish our dinner. Great interactions with the staff and just a lovely space!

Has to be the worst welcome we've ever had at any hotel we have stayed at. The young lady who was on reception was insisting we still had to pay for our dog even though we had already agreed the price as part of our deal. What a shame she was so rude as everyone else was excellent. The hotel had a feeling of old and new. Food was well prepared and presented. Breakfast was great. Bar area had a warm fire and cosy home feel about it. Won't be rushing back due the poor welcome.

Iv stayed at the MHCE several time over the past 7 – 8 years, unfortunately the hotel rooms no longer live up to my expectations, very tired and unkept, generally I felt it wasn't cleaned as expected for this calibre of hotel The “fixed price” two course meal is expensive, considering you then have to purchase sides at an additional £6 per serving, please be aware of this. On a positive the building itself is architectural stunning and the staff are very helpful
