Study: Eating A Big Breakfast Burns Double The Calories
If you’re the kind of person who likes to pile your plate high at breakfast time, well my dear Bruncher, you are in luck. A new study reveals that eating more for breakfast can be good for weight loss and could actually help you burn up to two times as many calories throughout the day!
Researchers analysed the metabolism of a group of men after eating a low-calorie breakfast and a high-calorie dinner one day and vice versa on another day. The result? Having a bigger breakfast and a smaller dinner increases diet-induced thermogenesis, which helps you burn more calories!
What’s more, eating a bigger breakfast means that you’re less likely to snack on sweet foods throughout the day. Could this be the best news we’ve heard all year? Quite possibly.
“Our results show a meal eaten for breakfast – regardless of the amount of calories it contains – creates twice as high diet-induced thermogenesis as the same meal consumed for dinner,” says corresponding author, Dr Juliane Richter. She also adds that eating more for breakfast instead of dinner could prevent obesity and high blood sugar.
So, ditch that bowl of Cheerios and cook yourself up a proper breakfast – because guilt-free grub is the best kind of grub!
