I had the misfortune of visiting Tonight Josephine near Waterloo recently, and it was one of the most appalling experiences I’ve ever had at a venue. My friend had booked a table to celebrate her birthday, spending a significant amount of money to ensure the night would be special for everyone. What should have been a joyous occasion quickly turned into a complete nightmare due to the disgraceful behavior of the staff, particularly the security.
In the middle of the evening, one of the security guards decided to approach the quietest member of our group and accuse him of taking a picture of him—something that never happened. The guard claimed he “felt uncomfortable” and insisted the guest leave immediately. Despite our friend offering to show his phone as proof of innocence, the security guard was adamant. It was clear this wasn’t about a picture; it was a baseless excuse to eject someone they didn’t want in the bar.
The situation escalated when we raised the issue with the manager, who shamelessly sided with the security guard and doubled down on the fabricated story. Instead of acknowledging their mistake or handling the situation professionally, the management chose to gaslight us, making it painfully obvious they prioritize protecting their staff over treating their paying customers with respect.
This venue is clearly not a safe or welcoming place. They take your money, create a hostile atmosphere, and then discard you when they feel like it, all to make room for the next group of unsuspecting patrons. It’s a money-grabbing operation with zero regard for decency or fairness.
If you’re looking for a place that treats people with respect and values its customers, stay far away from Tonight Josephine. The management, security, and overall environment are toxic, discriminatory, and completely unprofessional.
You’ve been warned.
