Let’s set the expectations right from the start: this isn’t a luxury dining experience for those looking for that. Instead, Toby Carvery aims to deliver a quick, delicious roast with a selection of meats, all served with fast and efficient service. Given the price point, which is barely higher than a meal at McDonald’s these days, it’s hard to complain. My experiences have consistently been positive with friendly and efficient service. For me, it’s a solid five-star experience for what it intends to be. This is not a high-end destination, but it’s perfect for a casual family meal. The quality of the food justifies a better rating than what seems to be reflected in the reviews. While the reviews appear fair and genuine in highlighting issues people have faced, they do not align with my consistently fantastic experiences at Toby Carvery. For those looking for a quick and enjoyable roast without the frills, Toby Carvery is definitely worth a visit.

Not very accommodating. Turned up on Sunday with 18 people in our party but was told they couldn’t cater for us even though they looked half empty. Admittedly we had a dog with us too but we were willing to make concessions. Took our business around the corner to Good Day Cafe who were the epitome of good service. They made us feel welcome, were able to personalise the menu to our needs and we left fully satisfied. P.S. the dog sat in the car and was able to watch us through the window. Couldn’t recommend Good Day Cafe highly enough.

Mixed review. I stayed for 2 nights in the lodge, so I had 2 evenings where I ate at the carvery. First night was good, good service, food was great. Natalie was my waitress and the manager on duty checked me in to my room and was very pleasant. Second night, service was not so good. It was reasonably busy and I was told if I wanted to have a carvery I could but I'd have to sit in the pub area. No drama. In that area there are food menus displayed. I went to the bar after I'd finished my carvery to ask if I could order a pudding, was told no. Probably this is a good thing for my waist line, but the menus in the pub area shouldn't be there if they cannot walk an extra 5 metres to deliver a pudding. I didn't think the manager that night (Ken i believed he is called) had a decent grasp of what good customer service is in a busy-ish environment. The carvery was good both nights.
