I arrived early for a dinner party in Oxford Circus and, with some time to spare, remembered a pub my friends had recommended—The Wigmore. It wasn’t far, so I decided to check it out for a quick drink before the main event. From the outside, The Wigmore doesn’t have the typical pub look. In fact, I hesitated for a moment, searching for the entrance. Stepping in, I was greeted by a doorman, which isn’t something you expect in a pub. Behind him, heavy curtains added an almost exclusive, nightclub-like feel. But once past them, the scene shifted—warm, familiar, and inviting. Not wasting any time, I headed straight to the bar, where Diana, the bartender, was quick to help. I asked for a good IPA recommendation, and she brought me two tasters. The Siren IPA stood out—slightly sour but well-balanced with hops, just what I needed to start a Friday night. The atmosphere, service, and beer selection left a great first impression. Though my visit was brief, I’ll definitely be back for a proper experience.

This was a delight respite! Gorgeous interior with lots of charm. The selection of reasonablly priced beer was top notch, (can recommend the Siren IPA) and the small bites were excellent, especially the Feta Pastry served in a delectable tomato based sauce w/ pomegranate! Boom goes the taste buds. Was a wee crowded, making ordering at bar difficult (why no dedicated lane for standing patrons?) but to be expected by such a fantastic space. Well done, and will definitely return!

The food is great at the Wigmore. I had the venison with their iconic bloody Mary chips, which was lovely. The portions were right right. For dessert, I had the doughnuts which were so fresh and melted in your mouth. I had the bergamot paloma to drink and was very refreshing. It was our one year wedding anniversary and it was where we dined last year after our ceremony so we will now make it a tradition to go every year! Would definitely recommend a visit!
