5.0a month agoI visited the Parakeet for their Sunday roast. The pub is beautiful and has a great atmosphere. I like you can still visit the pub as a pub or have a drink before or after your meal before you make your way to the dining room. In general, the service was great. Table was ready when we arrived, great balance of checking in on us and leaving us alone. We both had the roast beef and it was great, as was all the sides. We ordered the extra cauliflower cheese which was a must, but I was a bit gutted to not have their leeks they normally do. They also had chicken, lamb and more special sharers including a sirloin. I would love to come back and try a special. We also had a sticky toffee pudding and mousse for dessert. Both were great. The wine list is decent. There are a few glasses available by glass, carafe or even by coravin. Definitely recommend. I will be returning for a roast and I’d like to visit for a regular dinner.

5.03 weeks agoThis was by far the best beef roast I’ve had to date - WOOD FIRE. The potatoes were perfectly done, the gravy was rich and flavourful, and the medium-rare beef was done to perfection. The cauliflower cheese was exceptional as well. The sticky toffee pudding was equally impressive, rounding off a fantastic meal. Here’s the corrected sentence: Last but not least, the staff was laid-back and friendly, ensuring everything was perfect without being over the top. Shady and cozy atmosphere. 5⭐️

4.04 months agoThis is a pretty sweet little find. The drinks are very reasonably priced I paid 6 pounds for a pint of Guinness and I came on a Monday and they were doing a special of only 5 pounds for cocktails. We tried the Japanese whiskey sour and the spicy margarita, which were both great. But the espresso martini was pretty average, and then the burnt butter old-fashioned was actually pretty gross, I wouldn’t recommend that one. I really like the ambience of this venue the stained glass windows are a very nice touch and the artwork is good. The music was great. It was pretty hot when we arrived and they didn’t have the ceiling fans on and it was a little bit sweaty for my girlfriend, although I’m from Australia so I didn’t really notice it but she thought it was a little bit too hot. A fly did fly into my pint of Guinness at some point which I guess isn’t the bars fault, but I just thought I would mention that there was a fly in the pub and it flew into my drink and also the bar staff didn’t make my cocktail and deliver it to my table after I asked them to do that because they said it’s only bar service and I would’ve preferred it if they dropped the drink at the table because I had to just wait while they made it and I got a little bit bored. The food looks really good but I didn’t try any. Parakeet is a cool concept for a pub.
