The Breakfast Club have been ‘Taking care of breakfast since 2005’ and show no sign of slowing down, with their iconic yellow gaffs popping up everywhere across the capital.

Nicknamed the ‘Hackney Riviera’, it’s a glittering area of sun and food during summer months and the perfect spot for one of The Breakfast Club’s busiest restaurants.

The heavy, autumnal patterned curtains give the feel of a cocoon and there are tongue-in-cheek signs and posters strung up around the tight-knit space, a nod to the old-school nostalgia they do so well.

For veggies, the bean shakshuka & avo toast is a delight – poached eggs in a thick harissa, tomato and pepper sauce with sliced avo toast for dipping. Carnivores can’t go wrong with The Breakfast Burrito, which is full to the brim with chorizo, egg, peppers and spicy pepper sauce (also available as a veggie version).

Suppliers like Joe’s Tea and Karma Cola work closely with The Breakfast Club, cementing their status as a champion of independent businesses and ethical practices Their products are all sustainable and come from across the country to celebrate the best of British.

Have a stroll through the expansive surrounding parks or down to the River Lee, before departing from Hackney Wick Rail Station, just a five minute walk away.

The food was alright, the coffee was nice for London coffee. The food flavour wise was alright, wasn’t anything special but solidly did the job. The service was good as well but when the food came out it was lukewarm at best, which is fine but I do wish it was piping hot. In addition, we ordered 2 meals and some french toast dips but the server had mistakenly put them on a different table. We had to ask the servers twice before they were eventually served to us. As I said, overall the food was alright but I’m not sure if I’d go again given the price of everything.

I have never understood calling a place a “cafe”, that just sells coffee and croissants. When did the British become so cosmopolitan? it’s like having a horse just to walk it around……boring!!! So it was refreshing today, when I stumbled upon The Breakfast Club. It literally took me to the old style, Sir Alan Sugar days of “You’re fired” -where they used to go to the cafe and have a decent breakfast and not just “croissants”!! We had a delicious breakfast with a wonderfully brewed mocha and I loved everything from the poached eggs to the house potatoes and the service was phenomenal. They are pet friendly, they serve breakfast all day, the toilets are clean and I would try the fluffy pancakes when you go.

I love a good brunch spot and the Breakfast Club Hackney Wick is exactly that. Really nice cozy atmosphere next to the canal. Highly recommend dining alfresco on a nice summer day. Menu is broad with all the components of a good brunch; eggs, pancakes, waffles and hot beverages. We had a variety of meals which were all delicious. Service was also very fast. Got our plates in less than 10 minutes of ordering. Only negative feedback is that our server was rushing us through our meal. Kept coming to our table to ask if we were done even though we had food on our plates and was still eating. Besides that bad experience I’d visit again
