The Breakfast Club have been ‘Taking care of breakfast since 2005’ and show no sign of slowing down, with their iconic yellow gaffs popping up everywhere across the capital.

Showcasing the best in comfort food in a cool industrial shipping container, The Breakfast Club’s quirky venue in Croydon’s Boxpark bills itself as “70s Christmas Chic” and is as cosy as you’d expect from that description.

The heavy, autumnal patterned curtains give the feel of a cocoon and there are tongue-in-cheek signs and posters strung up around the tight-knit space, a nod to the old-school nostalgia they do so well.

For veggies, the bean shakshuka & avo toast is a delight – poached eggs in a thick harissa, tomato and pepper sauce with sliced avo toast for dipping. Carnivores can’t go wrong with The Breakfast Burrito, which is full to the brim with chorizo, egg, peppers and spicy pepper sauce (also available as a veggie version).

Suppliers like Joe’s Tea and Karma Cola work closely with The Breakfast Club, cementing their status as a champion of independent businesses and ethical practices Their products are all sustainable and come from across the country to celebrate the best of British.

Croydon Boxpark has a number of artisan food businesses so why not have a stroll around before leaving for East Croydon Rail, which is just a stones-throw away.

Looking for a breakfast place local but delicious with a sprinkle of flavour on each bite. Yes yes this is the place. Fantastic service with even better food. So well seasoned and well prepared. You can tell the chef and servers started to day off with a good coffee ☕️

We came here for breakfast which is located sneakily up the stairs in the Croyden BoxPark at the very back. It was really warm and busy so opted to sit outside, just to note if you choose this option you are given the order in a takeaway container and no alcohol is allowed. Using the QR code I ordered a beetroot chai latte with oat milk and then potato hash with chorizo, poached egg and avocado. It did feel like a long time the food was at least 25 to 30 minutes but we were hungry! The drink was very tasty but I felt like the way the egg had been poached reminded me of a McDonald's egg in its appearance and the takeaway boxes made it feel like a cheap fast good experience to which I'm not a fan. The flavours were good but considering we were a few paces away didn't quite comprehend why we couldn't be served with actual plates and cutlery. Overall an okay experience would possibly try inside next time if it's cooler and quieter.

The food was lovely. The only reason that I’m giving it 4 stars is because I felt anxious. It was so busy and people were queueing up by the door even though they had a booking and the whole thing felt a bit rushed. Normally when you have brunch you want to sit a bit and relax after your food but we felt like we were taking someone else’s place so left right after we ate. The staff were very polite. The prices as expected were a bit higher but it’s in central London so it’s expected I imagine. Not so much the food but the drinks e.g. tea, juices, milkshakes etc.
