Flesh & Buns lives up to its name - fluffy steamed bao buns in an authentic Japanese eatery.

The creation of acclaimed chef Ross Shonhan, Flesh & Buns aim to make Japanese food accessible and memorable to everyone. Situated in Covent Garden, Flesh & Buns brings the Izakaya experience to London- an informal Japanese dining experience focused on snacks and drinks.

The 3 course Sunday Brunch at Flesh & Buns has already become something of an institution. A cocktail on arrival is followed by a plethora of small dishes, with choices ranging from Korean fried wings and chicken yakitori, or a mixed sashimi set and softshell crab, depending on which menu you choose.

The titular Flesh and Buns serve as the main course- fluffy bao buns served with the likes of a crispy piglet belly with mustard miso.

Served every Sunday from 12pm-4pm for up to 8 people. Small sharing plates served to the table, one flesh per person and desserts served to the table. Please note that the entire table must choose the same menu. Free flowing prosecco, red wine, white wine.

Service was excellent, friendly staff and helpful with menu. The food was very tasty, big portions and plenty of choice for drinks too. Lamb shank was soft and flavoursome with bao buns so soft. Squid was good too. Rice bowls being vegetarian were surprisingly tasty full of flavour, had the mushrooms. Definitely go again!!

Great food, although feel it was a little overpriced for what it was. It was nice but not mind blowing. The sweetcorn balls had a very interesting unique taste! The fried calamari was overcooked. The cocktail was a lovely surprise though! As well as the cool opportunity to cook your own smores! Lovely atmosphere and service.

Managed to book a table last minute on a Saturday night. Was quite impressed as didn't expect much. Our sushi options were delicious and the service was friendly. Not overly attentive but they were very busy. I also had a pisco sour which was very good. Music is loud but not too loud to have a conversation and not shout.
