What a wonderful meal at the Fish Market last night. While they were packed out (it being St. Valentine's Day) they still managed to serve delicious food. The pace of the food was slower than might be expected, but we weren't in any hurry, so took real pleasure in having time to eat and enjoy the delicious items on offer. I was particularly pleased with the Bitter Leaves and Beetroot that I had for a starter - the yellow and black beetroot, along with carrots, cauliflower and goat's curd were a wonderful combination of flavours. My main was a delicious Sea Bream - there were options of sauces available with the fish: Garlic butter, Hollandaise, Sauce vierge or Salsa verde, but for me it is the fish which is my delight - so I had it plain. But there was nothing plain about a well cooked fleshy fish with soft flesh and a crispy skin. Only the head (well not quite all of it) and the tail survived! The sides were also fresh, crisp and worked as a perfect accompaniment to the fish. I finished with the cheese board (asking for it without the chutney, as it is the cheese that is my focus). The cheese was served at a perfect, ambient, temperature - so often restaurants forget to get the cheese out of the fridge in time, no such problem here. A juicy brie, a chunky comte and a sharp stilton were all flavours I love and these were a perfect end to an enjoyable meal for me. The serving staff were friendly and extremely apologetic for the delays in the food, making the whole experience a delightful one, when it could, all to easily, have been a difficult one. A reminder of how important front of house staff are to the reputation of a restaurant.

What a hidden gem, when you need a fish fix this is the place to come, the food was delicious and really well balanced, plus the Provence rose made it a great meal. Came for a business meal and service was great! We had the Cornish cod main, green beans and heritage tomato salad which were all super tasty, fish was cooked so well...all presented beautifully. Will be back
