3.0a month agoWent to try the breakfast on Sunday after hearing good things from friends about a fried breakfast featuring Yorkshire puddings and gravy. It was okay, but not as good as we'd hoped and let down by a couple of frustrating but easily fixable issues. On the plus side: • There was lots of space • We got served very quickly • My friend asked for veggie sausages while we were paying and was told it wouldn't be a problem and they'd be taken to our table, which seemed like good service. • It was very cheap £7pp plus drinks • There was a good selection of food • It wasn't crowded so we could get plenty of food without waiting ages or being shoved about • The hash browns were great and the meat sausages were nice • The Yorkies were huge and crispy • The staff were polite and friendly but not fussy However, overall the experience was ruined by: • The Yorkies were stone cold, even when a new batch were put out, they seemed to only get a little warm after sitting under the hot lamp • The menu said the Yorkies had bacon and onion in them; there was barely a scrap of onion in any of them and most had none, I couldn't see any bacon at all. • The hash was overcooked, clearly been sitting a long time and again I couldn't find a single bit of bacon in it and hardly any cheese. • The veggie sausages were disgusting, they looked anaemic, like they'd just been shoved in a microwave to warm up. My friend couldn't even eat them. • There was no gravy to be seen; when I asked the waitress about this she looked unsure and went to ask the kitchen, she came back and told me that they said that there was no gravy served at breakfast, I said I thought I'd seen it on the menu online, but thanks anyway and she left. I double checked the breakfast menu on the table and it did indeed say there would be "breakfast gravy", the staff didn't come by again so I didn't enquire further. Overall it's nowhere near as good as it sounds, but it is cheap and I guess we got what we paid for, but it feels like the minimum they could do is ensure that the dishes are as described on the menu, staff are aware of what the menu says and can explain any differences, and that things are served properly cooked. Probably wouldn't bother going back unless I was passing and really hungover.

5.07 months agoNikki has really made my evening. She's been super attentive, helpful and with a good sense of humour. She made sure everything was okay and we enjoyed her company. The Chinese chef in the carvery section was also very nice as well. Food is great, particularly the roast beef. Also had a honeycomb sundae pudding which ended the meal on a good note. Lovely atmosphere and lovely staff overall. ❤️

3.02 months agoWe decided on a Monday night thinking it was going to be quiet but it was really busy. Unfortunately most of the staff were on a work night out so other teams had been brought in but there wasn’t enough staff for how busy it was. Our waitress was absolutely lovely also, but it was so busy and the restaurant was so short staffed that we waited a good thirty minutes before we even were offered our drinks. And then another 10 mins waiting in que for food. The area we were sat was so hot but again our waitress got us fans. The food was nice and the lady who was slicing the meats on the counter was working overtime as she was on her own but she was doing a really good job! There was no roast potatoes / cracking or famous gravy though… But the staff were busy and I appreciate it’s really hard work when there’s just not enough of you and too many customers. Food was good value £11.79 for two courses but just a bit disappointing in time waited and heat in restaurant…
