Popped into Toby carvery for some lunch with my sister, looking at the menu it was obvious we were having carvery, the place was packed only just got a table without having to wait. It was very loud and the queue was very long, we were waiting for about 15 minutes in this queue, I must point out it was school holidays. I had beef and turkey which was very nice, I'm not a lover of dry turkey or rare beef, and must say mine were neither, my sister had gammon, she loves salty gammon and unfortunately the gammon was not salty at all, so she was a little disappointed. I love vegetables and was a little shocked at how much choice I had, cauliflower cheese is a must, the roast potatoes in dripping were very nice, along with the norm, we did order 2 side dishes which to be honest wasn't that great, we got loaded roasties and loaded Mac and cheese, the roasties had bacon on them and the Mac and cheese has chicken balls on it, the Mac and cheese came straight from the carvery section and they just added the chicken ball, unfortunately the Mac and cheese was very dry, and I can only say the same for the loaded roasties. All in all I ate my meal and was very full once finished. We didn't get a pudding. We did learn about an app that Toby are doing, it basically gave us our drink free, bonus.

Great Toby Carvery, delicious food and a wonderful 50% off food offer. Staff were exceptional in difficult snowy circumstances, switching between restaurant working and salting and digging cars out so that customers were all safe.

Awful breakfast experience! We had booked table for two, queued for nearly 20 minutes as just one person at the bar dealing with customers. Then another member of staff showed up and she was was barking orders at us both about what we do at the hot drinks section with our cups (that had our paper napkin and Cutlery in) We felt at this point that it was like being in a queue at a prison canteen with the guard giving orders. There were no plates left when we finally reached the front of the buffet. And no staff available to ask for some! Had to go to bar to request plates, waited a few minutes until a miserable looking waiter arrived and dropped a pile of very old looking plates on the counter. When I picked one up I saw food remains on plate below. In fact the top 3 plates I piled up all had food remains stuck to them. I had tell the bar staff member that the plates were filthy. The food was as disappointing, cold dried up bacon, cold tasteless sausages, cold barely cooked mushrooms, cold runny beans and tomatoes and soggy, tasteless and cold potatoes. Then it gets worse! No eggs left, asked the miserable looking waiter if any were coming, zero response from him as he left. Next thing an angry looking person in chefs outfit stomps out with a tray of runny fried eggs floating about in excess oil. This person then tipped the eggs into the empty buffet tray and left. It was like he or she was just discarding food into a pigs trough for the hungry livestock to quieten them down. We barely ate a thing, and drove away with the aftertaste of the foul brew that was described as filter coffee. Tragic experience, sad too, as we have really enjoyed dining in a different branch of Toby carvery not so long ago. The management team here need retraining perhaps?
