Enjoyed a wonderful stay and dinner. Room was comfortable and well appointed. The menu was English with Asian influences with a very creative well-priced wine list. A wonderful experience.

I can only judge the restaurant, as we didn’t book a room. The meal that we had was one of the most memorable culinary experiences that we’ve ever had. For starters we shared an impeccably baked combination of white and brown bread, accompanied with creamy Wensleydale butter, powdered with crystal salt. As main courses we thoroughly enjoyed a local super soft venison that melted in my mouth without any effort, and a spectacularly well flavoured Yorkshire beef pudding. We finished this magic culinary ride with a lavender and wildflowers honey panna cotta. On top of all this, the superb service by the friendly staff. An experience to remember for years to come. Bravo!

We went for Sunday lunch and had high expectations based on previous reviews and the price of £21.50 for a main dish (pretty pricey). Sadly it turned out to be an overpriced roast dinner. The lamb was lovely but not enough of it and if not for the oversized yorkshire pudding there would've been barely any food on the plate and that was with ordering cauliflower cheese at an extra £3.50 in the tiniest pot.. I also asked for extra gravy as there was barely any on my plate and I needed it to moisten the giant pudding, only to be charged another £1.50!!! My husband had beef, which was 2 wafer thin slices and chewy. On top of that a wine and soda and 1 pint beer was £15 and they added a £6 service charge which we refused to pay. In our view an average Sunday roast for a very above average bill of £64 (would've been £70 had we paid the service charge)and we came away still feeling hungry!! Think we'll stick to the local garden centre for our Sunday Roast at half the price, filling and equally tasty.
