Bath was founded by the Romans in the 1st century AD who used Bath’s natural hot springs as a thermal spa. The Romans built a complex of baths and a temple which were major features of Roman life in the city which attracted visitors from across the Roman Empire.

Today, Bath is still known for its Roman Bath Complex, one of the most significant and well-preserved Roman sites in the world: its stunning Georgian architecture makes Bath a popular tourist destination. The city’s architectural and historical significance awarded the city as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.

The restaurant scene is diverse and vibrant, offering a wide range of culinary experiences to residents and visitors alike. The city boasts casual diners and cosy cafes, fine dining restaurants and a wide selection of international cuisines and food markets. From Michelin-star restaurants to independent and locally sourced establishments, there is something to suit every taste and budget.

Foodies can explore various food markets and festivals, offering not only a wide range of international street food vendors but there are farmer’s markets, chef demonstrations and wine tasting for foodies to get involved with!

Each area of Bath has its own distinct personality and charm. The Royal Cresent is known for its stunning Georgian architecture, with 30 Georgian terraced houses and No.1 Royal Cresent which has now been converted into a heritage museum.
